Thanks to Alison HEMMING who contacted me in April with thoughts/comments on the IVIN Family, which prompted further research. The records of Isaac and Dinah IVIN's family have been further revised, as the records of Henry Charles IVIN and family are no longer considered to be related. A suitable link may be with Mary sister of Isaac, comments or thoughts from fellow reseachers are welcome.

I have been contacted by Dave Dixon about his website Fadedgenes. This is a project to re-discover the ancestry of some of those who gave their lives during the First World War. Dave is gathering the names from various war memorials around East Kent, with the intention of providing some ancestral details for those listed. Of particular family interest is the page for John Elgar Collins Starkey (1897-1915)

A copy of the HMY Verona web-pages by Jacksac Divers have been included on this website, as the original Jacksac Divers website appears to be no longer available.

Alf Wakeling (1922-2007)
Alf Wakeling, one of the founder members of the Gild of Brightlingsea Freemen and curator of the Brightlingsea Museum, died recently. He was also responsible for the twinning of Brightlingsea with the French town of Marennes.
Residents extend their sincere condolences to his wife Eileen and family.
He was a great supporter of the Gild and did so much for his adopted town over many decades. He was originally born in Dagenham.
The family cremation service at Weeley on Tuesday 27th March 2007 was followed by a service of Resurrection & Thanksgiving at the New Church in Brightlingsea and took place on a beautiful Spring day.
A fitting farewell to a fine man.
